«Боже мой! Уоррингтоны!»; «Вы только посмотрите на них — настоящий образец семьи!»; «Ах! Вот уж у кого, есть все! Они, вообще, словно из сказки!» — Фрейя слышала эти фразы с самого детства и уже тогда морщилась при виде восторженно-восхищенных людей, с жаром обсуждающих степень богатства ее родителей. По спине пробегал холодок от взглядов, наполненных черной завистью. Она ненавидела сладкую ложь, что после каждого вечера, проведенного в круге высшего общества, хотелось содрать с кожи, словно засахаренную корку, ровным слоем, лежащую на плечах. Каждая девочка мечтает быть принцессой, но Астрид с радостью уступила бы свой трон кому-то другому. Полжизни чувствовать себя белой вороной, то ещё счастье. Гордая, вспыльчивая, прямолинейная — ей приходилось бороться с самой собой, чтобы играть роль, навязанную собственными близкими. Она с непониманием наблюдала за старшей сестрой, что умела подстраиваться мгновенно и говорить/делать то, чего от нее ожидают. Би — самый дорогой человек для Асти и ее передергивало всякий раз, стоило той надеть маску притворщицы, чтобы родители в очередной раз напомнили, какая между ними пропасть в искусстве лицемерия. Она хотела жить в обычной семье, где хвалят за выполненные уроки или помощь на кухне. Вместо этого приходилось, словно бабочке биться в паутине из фальши. «Блэр идеальна»; «мама идеальна»; «отец идеален» — Фрейя мечтала стереть все вариации этого слова, чтобы оно растворилось в слоях атмосферы и не придавливало к земле, словно каменная плита в тридцать тонн. Сколько можно терпеть, когда все твои действия противоречат характеру? Сколько можно терпеть, когда ты ломаешь себя, ради мимолетной улыбки? Сколько можно терпеть, когда кричишь во все горло, но тебя никто не слышит? Астрид по-настоящему страдала, испытывая недостаток любви со стороны родителей. Ей было больно оттого, что все больше приходилось ловить моменты, которые можно запросто заключить в хэштег «искренняя Блэр» и добавить отметки в гугл-мапс — «школа», «любимое кафе» и т. д. В общем, плотину прорвало в период, под названием «вступление во взрослую жизнь». Фрейя самостоятельно покорила вершину, являющуюся Лондонским университетом искусств и все эмоции, копившиеся годами, неудержимым потоком слов и жестов, обрушились на родных. Наверное, тут и произошло то, что до сих пор для девушки, держится в хит-параде болезненных ударов судьбы. Блэр не поддержала ее, а встала на сторону родителей. Асти высказала все и собрав свои вещи, ушла из дома. Месяц жила у подруги, а когда стала бариста в маленькой кофейне, стала снимать квартиру. Конечно, Би навещала ее и телефон иногда просыпался от редких звонков матери и отца, но девушка уже не могла относиться к ним так, как прежде. Астрид нравилась свободная жизнь. Учеба, новые знакомства и работа, ставшая любимой — впервые, она ощущала себя на своем месте. А потом, судьба закрыла коробку с подарками и бросила в подвал, захлопывая дверь на замок. Обычно, никогда не думаешь, что с тобой может произойти что-то страшное. Смотришь телевизор, а в новостях рассказывают о похищениях или убийствах. Пугаешься на долю секунды и тут же забываешь об этом. Фрейе и в голову не могло прийти, что после вечерней смены в кофейне, она не вернется домой. Боль и ужас тех трех дней до сих пор живы в ее памяти. Ей повезло лишь в том, что она осталась жива. Какое-то время, Асти глушила свои страхи алкоголем или сильными успокоительными, готовая вот-вот проститься со здравым рассудком. Ее спасла Блэр, решившая наведаться в гости, как обычно — внезапно. Старшая сестра была шокирована тем, в кого превратилась Астрид. Измученная, забитая, с непонятными приступами агрессии... Би железной рукой отправила младшую в реабилитационный центр, убедив родителей в том, что это необходимо. В клинике, Фрейя провела около года и на данный момент, является практически здоровым членом общества. Она переехала в Калифорнию, в Сан-Диего и снова устроилась в кофейню, только на этот раз, замахнулась на Starbucks и проживает в съемной квартире с прекрасным видом на парк. Стоит отметить, что место проживания, сменила неслучайно, а поехала вслед за своими родными. Правда, им знать об этом совсем необязательно. До сих пор не смогла завести никаких отношений, потому что от мужских прикосновений, кривится так, будто лягушку живьем съела. Правда, есть некоторые личности, входящие в группу исключений, потому что являются друзьями девушки. А вот, насчет сестры... С одной стороны, Асти благодарна ей. С другой по-прежнему не может преодолеть барьер, что они выстроили между собой, общими усилиями. На самом деле, Фрейя нуждается в сестре и отчаянно желает поделиться с ней всем произошедшим.
